Presentation of conferences

Come&See is an exhibition of Catalan performing arts for international programmers. We aim at showing Catalan creations from all sides: with showcases, project presentations, face-to-face gatherings and conferences explaining the map of performing arts in Catalonia.
These conferences have been conceived as an open debate. A debate with programmers, where we hope everyone will participate and ask questions or share their own personal experiences. The debate is assured. Just Come&speak!

Panel discussion with associations

Catalonia has important associations bringing together professionals from the performing arts scene in Catalonia. Come&See 2008 sits the main representatives of these organizations around a table to show the business tissue of the Catalan scene. From companies to creators and companies dealing with all disciplines: theater, dance, circus... They will all discuss the present and future situation of companies in the sector. How they are financed, their internationalization, the challenges they face in the future, the opportunities and risks, what they obtain from a Come&See that creates the space for a direct, personal relationship among the main performing arts’ programmers from around the world.

Panel discussion on shows and festivals

Catalonia hosts many shows and festivals of all sizes and types. We have brought to this panel discussion a broad representation of all, from the older and more reputable ones, to the newest and more innovative ones. There are also very different models. From shows whose vocation is to support the business tissue, to those that are a space for debate and reflection. We will be discussing the challenges for the future with them, which is the model for shows and festivals in the 21st Century, where we are heading. We will try to set up a debate with international programmers to find ways of exchanging experiences, synergies, programming models, financing sources...We will take a look into Catalan audiences and compare them to those in other countries. Finally, we will explain the different existing models.
Panel discussion on performing arts venues
Once again, for this panel discussion we have looked for a broad variety of examples to include the widest range possible of venue models in Catalonia. At this discussion there will be representatives from both big and small venues, venues in Barcelona and from the rest of the territory, theater venues and dance venues, private and public venues...With the directors of these venues we will be debating about creation and gaining and retaining audience, also about the quality of Catalan creation and about co-production with venues from around the world, as of the need for internationalization, of opportunities and threats, as well as the great challenges in managing a venue for performing arts...and any other issue that may arise.
