Catalan theatre in
Barcelona
"Come & See"
Come&See, the Catalan theatre gathering which takes place in Barcelona,
was established in 2006 at the initiative of CIATRE,
the professional theatre companies association of Catalonia, and its aim
is to promote the creative work of theatre companies in Catalonia worldwide
and to bring international theatre to Barcelona in a prominent, organised
event.
Since the initial 2006 event, attended by more than a hundred first-rate
international programmers, Come&See has opened its doors to all Catalan
performing arts in an effort to create the opportunity for all companies,
creators, venues and producers in Catalonia to present their shows to
the agents, international festivals and programmers that have been invited.
The 2008 Come&See is an event, a performing arts showcase, a three-day
meeting point – from 2 to 4 July – comprising some 30 half-hour
long performances, as well as projects for co-production being presented,
lectures, round-table discussions, face-to-face meetings and many other
activities for all professionals who attend.
Come&See is funded by the Catalan Cultural Industry Institute (ICIC)
and supported by the Cultural Institute of Barcelona (ICUB) – Barcelona
City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council, the Institut Ramon Llull and
the Spanish Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers (SGAE).
The world of theatre is bound for the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (TNC)
in Barcelona on 2, 3 and 4 July in order to see what's cooking in the
Catalan theatre scene. This year national and state programmers are also
being invited to find out about the latest theatre productions being created
in Catalonia and to share opinions and experiences with colleagues from
abroad.
